Sarah Sisco, MSSW, MPH

Sarah Sisco is Program Officer for the Social Work Leadership Institute at the New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM). She oversees and directs the implementation of the Practicum Partnership Program (PPP), a national initiative to foster partnerships between universities and community organizations to improve practice experiences for social work students specializing in the field of aging. Sarah spent two and half years as Project Director for various community-based partnership programs at the Center for Urban Epidemiologic Studies (CUES) at NYAM, that address health disparities and social determinants of health. The foremost, Project VIVA, is a rapid vaccination protocol that aims to increase access to flu vaccine for hard-to-reach populations in East Harlem and the Bronx, NY. She was also Project Director for the New York site of Project MIX, a cognitive-behavioral intervention to reduce high-risk sex and substance use amongst men who have sex with men (MSM). Sarah also managed the multilevel, community-based Expanded Syringe Access Program intervention (ESAP) at CUES, as well as a variety of projects related to the Harlem Community and Academic Partnership (HCAP). Sarah holds a Master of Science in Social Work degree from Columbia University School of Social Work, a Master of Public Health (Sociomedical Sciences) degree from the Mailman School of Public Health, and specializes in issues of underserved populations, international urban health, and community-based participatory research.
